Welcome to the Cybrosis Podcast Novel

Greetings and welcome to cybrosisnovel.com, the home of Cybrosis, the debut Podcast Novel by P.C. Haring!

For those of you returning to the site, welcome back!  For those of you stopping in for the first time thank you very much for checking out the blog.

Cybrosis is a cyberpunk action adventure novel filled with conspiracies, betrayals, and surprises when a botched mission leads Ciris, the world’s first cyborg down a rabbit hole and into a conspiracy that threatens her very being.

For those of you unfamiliar with the podcast novel format, basically it’s like an audio book that’s delivered on a regular episodic basis.  Think of the old radio plays of yesteryear and you’ve got a fairly good grasp on the concept.  Like those plays, Cybrosis enjoys a full voice cast plus narrator, music soundtrack, and minimal sound effects.  Episodes are released on a weekly basis on Friday Mornings (U.S. Central time) with the podcast’s first run going from January 1, 2010 through May 14, 2010.  Special feedback episodes are littered within, and additional ‘wrap up’ episodes will air after the May 14 finish of the novel.

If you’re new to the site, I HIGHLY recommend that you start with Episode 1 of the podcast, which is the first chapter of the novel.  You can find that entry right HERE . However, if you’d like to have the content downloaded directly into your computer, you can subscribe to the feed and download at your leisure.  If you have iTunes, I highly recommend you Subscribe in iTunes either with that link, or the button on your right.  If you don’t use iTunes, then I suggest you Subscribe with this link.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the novel!

#Cybrosis is here!

It’s been a long road and I’m very happy to announce that Cybrosis is now available and for sale for an E-reader of your choosing.

As I mentioned in the announcement posting last month, there are some minor edits in this version that came out of the original podcast. Some are so minor that only a word or two has changed and unless you know where to look, you might not even notice.

At this time, the book is available through both Amazon.com and should go live on Barnes and Noble.com sometime tomorrow. The novel is also available at www.pcharing.net/purchase where you will have the option to purchased an inscribed and signed copy of the book for the e-reader of your choice. All purchase options will be available for $2.99

After you pick up a copy of the book, please help me spread the word! Write a brief review on Amazon or Barnes and Noble, or even Goodreads. Tell your friends, tell your co-workers, blog about it, podcast about it. If you have an audience who you think would enjoy the book, please let me know and I’ll be happy to make promotional material available or schedule an interview and/or appearance. Even if you only tell one friend, I promise I appreciate all of your help. I will be needing all I can get!

As always you can feel free to contact me. My E-mail is still pcharing at cybrosisnovel dot com. I’m around facebooktwitter, and, of course you can leave a comment on the blog.

Thank you for your support of my writing. Im very glad to have you along for the ride.

Just a quick update

So it’s the last few days before Friday’s release of Cybrosis to the electronic reader market.  Things have been busy since last month’s announcement, but I am pleased to say that things are moving along well and aside from a few minor technical issues things have been going very smoothly.

Keep it tuned here for news and announcements in the next few days as I put the final pieces in place ahead of Friday’s launch!

At long last! Cybrosis Comes to Kindle!

After much work over the past several months, I am very excited to announce that on Friday, December 16, 2011, Cybrosis will be available for $2.99 on the Amazon Kindle Store.

I’ve been talking about this on the blog and on twitter for quite a while now and it’s good to finally be able to announce a date certain when I will be able to share with you this story in written form.  It’s been a long road since the podcast back in 2010, quite possibly too long.  But I have no regrets and I think when you all see the finished product you’ll agree it was worth the wait.

Those who listened to the podcast, might notice some minor edits and adjustments made between the forthcoming Kindle release and the podcast you remember.  These edits were put in place to clean up and expand some of the ambiguous science.  Some of the style and phrasing was adjusted to better reflect the things I’ve learned as a writer and a couple of the bigger “um…no…” reactions from listener feedback were addressed.  In all, less than 5% of the existing words were changed, and just under 1,100 new words were added to flesh out the universe.  But the story plot and sequence of events remains unchanged.

For the time being, Cybrosis will be exclusive to Kindle.  I intend to release ePub version through the Nook store, but I have to do more research on that aspect of things.  That said, I anticipate it going live there in January 2012.  Cybrosis will not be released via Smashwords until they complete their announced 2012 upgrade of their meatgrinder when they will start accepting ePub formatted books.  It will also be available from pcharing.net and cybrosisnovel.com for direct purchase in both Kindle and ePub formats and I’m looking into options for adding inscriptions and author signatures to the files sold directly.  Yes, it is possible to sign ebooks.  All formats will be priced at $2.99.

There is much work still to be done over the next month and as such I am turning to you all for help.  Please buy copies for yourself.  Please tell your friends, family, and anyone else who might be interested in reading this book.  It’s launching just in time for the holiday season and gifting eBooks on Amazon’s site is extremely easy.  If you have blogs, please discuss, if you have podcasts that take interviews I’d love to come on your show.  If you do book reviews, let me know and I’ll send you an ARC.  I will NOT be coordinating an “Amazon Rush”, but I do want to make things as visible as possible for the book and I will need your help to do it.  In the past, I’ve tried not to be one of those “Hi!  Please buy my book” people.  I don’t plan to become on of those people, but I do need your support.

Thanks for reading, thanks for your support.  I’m back to work  and you can expect more updates soon!

“The Seven” Comes to Amazon.com

I am very excited to share in the announcement that “The Seven” the short story I produced for Philippa Ballantine and Tee Morris‘ Ministry of Peculiar Occurences“Tales from the Archives” anthology is now available on Amazon.com as a 99 Penny Dreadful.  This is the text of the podcast audio I produced for them earlier this summer.  If you enjoy my writing, their writing, the podcast, or their novel “Phoenix Rising“, I HIGHLY Recommend you check this out and show your support not only for Tee and Pip, but also for me.

About the story -

Agent Brandon Hill is on assignment in South America, enjoying the local culture and women, when a mystery that could lead to El Dorado falls into his lap. Before the intrepid agent knows it, he is the jungle uncovering a plot but the devilish Illuminati. He will need all his monkey knife fighting skills to survive this one.

Tales from the Archives are short stories set in the world of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences. They explore events mentioned in the novels, characters seen and unseen and may include novel teasers of things to come.

“The Seven” is available now over at Amazon.com

Cybrosis – The Cybreakfast Part 2 of 2

At long last!  Part 2 of the Cybreakfast.  My apologies for the delays in getting this uploaded and posted.  No excuses from me.  I just didn’t get it done sooner and I apologize.
In this long awaited part two, we continue our ongoing discussion about Cybrosis and the world of podcast novels as a whole.  We discuss the choices between full cast audio, full audio drama, and straight read podcasts.  We discuss some of our favorite moments in our own productions.  All this leads up to the inevitable close of the conversation as we bid a sentimental farewell and congratulations to this, my debut novel.
But stay tuned after the conversation wraps!  I come back with some more discussion and some more recent updates regarding my own projects and a few hints about what’s to come in the future.
Thank you all for being a part of this fantastic experience.  This will not be the last you hear from me.  But things are going to get a bit more diverse in terms of content on the feed while I work on getting the next major fiction project on it’s feet.

Welcome everyone to the first part of the Cybreakfast, the exit interview and cast routable discussion for Cybrosis.  This was recorded live at Balticon 44 on Sunday May 30 2010.

Listen in as Tee Morris hosts this roundtable in which we discuss Cybrosis, Cyberpunk as a genre, sexy vampires who are sexy with their sex, the production process, and much more…including a couple of embarrassing moments for P.C. Haring

Expect Part 2 in one week!

Cybrosis Feedback Episode 03 Part 02

Welcome to the second half of the final Cybrosis feedback episode!  J. Daniel Sawyer and Christiana Ellis return to the mics  and we’re joined by a new voice in the fun insanity as we finish the second half of your comments, voicemails, website comments and more!

So yes, this is the final part of the final feedback but fear not there is more content still to come.  Including the Cybreakfast we recorded at Balticon!  Also, just because this is the last scheduled feedback episode, don’t let that stop you from writing or calling in.  There is more content coming down the feed and the communication lines are still open!

Cybrosis Feedback Episode 03 Part 1

Once again I am joined by none other than Christiana Ellis and J. Daniel Sawyer as we discuss your comments and feedback to the end of the novel.  This part does go a little long, weighing in at over an hour, but hopefully you enjoy it as there’s lots of fun to be had within!  Also I close out the first part with little announcement.

Podcast novelists Tee Morris and Philippa Ballantine will be visiting Chicago in a week and a half  and we’ve put our heads together to organize a meet up for anyone and everyone in the Chicagoland area, or those who want to make the trip into town.  We’ve reserved a private party room at the Goose Island Brewing Company in downtown Chicago and are hoping you’ll come out and join us as we catch up, try out the local brews (Neither Tee nor Pip have had Goose Island beer before),  and just have a lot of fun.  The Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox will be playing that day and while we will not be attending the game directly, our party room will have a TV where we can watch the game as they continue the cross town rivalry (classic),

Details are as follows  -

Announcements for 6/15/10- Chicago area tweetup!

Hello once again everyone!  Just a couple of quick announcements to keep you all in the loop as to what’s going on over here at cybrosis novel.com.

First, I’m back from Balticon!  The con was a personal success for me and provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with the cast, meet some of the audience, and hopefully open the novel up to a larger audience.  So if you’re new to the site from Balticon welcome and thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you like what you see and hear!

As long as I’m discussing Balticon I should also let you know that we were able to record the cast rountable and exit interview, codename: Cybreakfast!  We had all of the main cast members in attendance, a handful of cameo voices, and a few friends and listeners sit in on what turned into almost an hour and a half of conversation, discussion, jokes, and a little roasting here and there.  The audio needs a little cleaning up but I’m in process with it and it should go live after the final feedback episodes.

Yes, I said feedback episodes.  I sat down last night to record the feedback episode with Christiana Ellis and J. Daniel Sawyer.  After a few technical glitches (The maiden voyage of Off the Deep End Studios v2.0 had some bumps getting out of port) we were able to get through a fair portion of the feedback.  Unfortunately the hour started getting late so we had to table the rest until we can record again next week.  But fear not!  I’ll be editing voicemail episode 3 part 1 later today and tomorrow and hope to have it out and on the feed by Friday morning.

One of the products of that conversation is the addition of a tip-jar paypal button here on the site.  If you haven’t noticed it you’ll find it on the sidebar on the right, directly under the subscription links.  I know there have been several of you out there who have asked about leaving a tip and in response, here it is.  If you are inclined to leave a contribution to help offset the costs of producing the podcast, I thank you in advance.

Finally, as suggested by the title I’m also announcing a Chicago area meetup/tweet up.

That’s it from me for now.  I’m back to editing Feedback Episode 3 part 1 so you can have it in your possession by the end of the week!
